Meet Coach Azure

I’ve been coaching volleyball for quite a while now, including seven years as the head coach at Roosevelt High School during its KingCo 4A days, where we made a state tournament run and had several strong district finishes. Along the way, I’ve coached at Holy Names, Sammamish High School, on Mercer Island, and more recently at both the middle school and youth levels. One thing I’ve learned is that whether I’m coaching beginners or advanced players, I genuinely enjoy helping athletes discover what they’re capable of and watching a team grow together.

I’m a positive, effort-focused coach who believes kids get the most out of sports when they’re challenged, supported, and expected to work hard. My favorite part of coaching has always been having a group of kids to root for. I’ve never been overly interested in recruiting or building a roster on paper. I like to get who I get and make the best of it. Give me a group of athletes who are willing to learn, compete, and support each other, and I’m all in.

I played at Redmond High School and attended the University of Washington, though I consider myself a better coach than I ever was a player. When I’m not in a gym, I’m a self-employed woodworker, problem solver, and lifelong learner who loves hearing people’s stories. I also have an overly confident and extremely fun 11-year-old daughter and a weird-and-awesome husband who keep life interesting. I’m excited to be part of Podio because it feels like the kind of place that values growth, effort, and people as much as wins and losses.
